Sample Wellness Calendar – 12 Months of Practical Wellness Ideas
One-off wellbeing events are easily forgotten. But a light-touch, year-round approach keeps health and attendance on the radar without overwhelming anyone.
This sample calendar gives you one idea per month. It’s designed to be low-cost, easy to organise, and varied enough to appeal to different people. You don’t have to run all twelve — just pick what works for your culture and budget.
January – Financial Wellbeing Drop-in
Invite a local financial adviser, pension adviser, or Citizens’ Advice to offer private 15-minute chats. Helps staff who feel anxious after Christmas or during cost-of-living pressure.
February – Healthy Heart Challenge
Set out the timeline of absence, support offered, and impact on the team or business. Use a clear and neutral tone. This is not about blame; it is about assessing the current situation and whether the business can continue to hold the role open.
March – Desk Ergonomics Week
Ask open questions: “How are things now?” “Do you feel ready to return?” “Is there anything else we can do to support you?” Avoid interrupting or rushing through the answers. Take full notes.
April – Stress Awareness Toolkit
If the employee raises new health information or provides an updated fit note, pause the process. Take time to check with occupational health before proceeding. Rushing ahead can make the dismissal unsafe.
May – Mental Health Conversations
Unless the facts are undisputed and no new information has come to light, it is usually better to adjourn, reflect, and confirm your decision in writing.
June – Wellbeing Walk & Talk
Swap one 1:1 meeting a week for a walk, where possible. Works well for managers checking in with hybrid staff. No formal agenda, just a casual chat.
July – Summer Leave Countdown
Encourage staff to book and take their annual leave. Share tips on switching off and set the tone by reminding managers to set good out-of-office examples.
August – Hydration and Heat Tips
Share tips on staying cool and hydrated. Offer iced water, shaded break spaces or relaxed dress code days during heatwaves.
September – Cycle to Work Push
Promote or relaunch your cycle-to-work scheme. Offer minor bike servicing on-site or run a cycling safety session.
October – Flu Jab Reminder
Arrange a pop-up flu jab clinic or share links to local pharmacies. Remind staff that staying home when ill is part of team care.
November – Men’s Health Check-In
Use Movember to start low-key conversations around men’s mental and physical health. A short email from a senior male leader can work wonders.
December – Gratitude and Reflection
Host a ‘thank you’ coffee morning. Share a roundup of wellbeing highlights from the year and ask staff what they’d like to see next year.
